Description

18th and early 19th centuries, 3 adjoining houses in close, 3 and 2 storeys, rubble stone, part-harl, part-render, plain margins.

S ELEVATION: 3-storey house adjoining No 24; harled, 5 bays, irregular fenestration, later attic storey addition, gablehead to left, 1 window to right at 3rd floor. 2-storey house to left; rubble stone, 3-bay symmetrical, door to centre, door to centre, window centred above, windows flanking at ground and 1st floors. 19th century house to left and across end of close; lined render, L-plan, 2-bay wing adjoining neighbour, architraved doorway to left paired with doorway for E facing wing, pend to left, 1 window at 1st floor above.

N ELEVATION: (in Close to 22 High Street): 3 storey house; rubble stone, irregular fenestration, openings blocked, brick infills. 2 storey house; rubble stone, 3-bay symmetrical, door to centre, window centred above, windows flanking at ground and 1st floor. 19th century house; lined render, single bay to right, gablehead of wing formerly L-plan above and to right.

Various replacement timber sash and case windows and modern windows. Grey and brown slate roof; brick gablehead stacks to W of 3-storey house, to W of 2 storey house and to E and W of 19th century house.

INTERIOR: not seen 1997.

BOUNDARY WALLS: rubblestone boundary walls to rear extending W.
