Description

Mid to later 19th century. Single storey row of 4, 3-bay, rectangular-plan symmetrical cottages. Harl-pointed random rubble.

SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: centred deep-set boarded door with window in each bay flanking to each cottage.

2-pane timber sash and case windows; evenly disposed rooflights to SE pitch. traditional graded stone tiled roof; stone ridge; harl-pointed, corniced gablehead and ridge stacks.

INTERIORS: not seen, 1998.

Statement of Interest

A remarkably intact row of farm cottages associated with Warsetter Farm (listed separately) which lies to the south. They retain their original graded stone tiles and substantial stacks. They remain unaltered in plan and retain, to a large extent, their timber framed windows. Cottages in a complete a state as these are now a rarity in Orkney.
