Circa 1825. Single storey 3-bay gothic cottage, altered in late 19th century. Polished ashlar to front, coursed rubble to sides and rear. Barge-boarded overhanging eaves.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: entrance in slightly advanced gabled central bay with scalloped bargeboarding; timber panelled door with decorative fanlight in hoodmoulded chamfered surround. Slightly projecting piend-roofed 2-light window in recessed panel; decorative bargeboarding to eaves. Piend-roofed pend with decorative bargeboarding in right bay, formed when cottage became part of stables of No 110 Trinity Road.

Plate glass in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Diagonally set corniced decorative ashlar stacks with circular cans.

Statement of Interest

A group comprises 3 Gothic cottages, Nos 22, 23 and 24 Russell Place. Despite damage, the cottage remains an important part of an elegantly detailed group of early gothic cottages ornees. The cottages were part of the original feuing of Trinity Mains Farm by the lawyer, Alexander Scott.
