Description

Early 20th century. 3-storey, 7-bay tenement (grouped 2-3-2) forming part of terrace. Polished red ashlar; brick to side. Curved moulded parapet; canted oriel windows to outer bays at 1st and 2nd floors; deep moulded cills and cornices; cill moulding to strip-moulded wallhead stacks flanking central 3-bays.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrance; flanking bipartite windows; entrances to penultimate bays to outer left and right; bipartite windows to outer bays; timber doors and letterbox fanlights to all square-headed entrances (stained glass fanlight to No 49); 2 bipartite windows to central bays at 1st and 2nd floor; single windows at 1st and 2nd floor to penultimate bays to outer left and right; canted outer bays at 1st and 2nd floor.

Predominantly plate glass timber sash and case windows; some modern glazing. Roof (unseen 1998); corniced wallhead and gablehead stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

B Group with 55-63 (Odd Nos), 65-69 (Odd Nos), 71-75 (Odd Nos), 77-85 (Odd Nos) Dalblair Road and 54-62 (Even Nos) Alloway Street (see separate list descriptions). This grouping forms a distinctive early 20th century streetscape with its canted bays and high parapets, distinguished predominantly by Nos 77-85 Dalblair Road and 54-62 Alloway Street with its aedicules and balustraded parapet.
