Late 19th century. Circular pigsty, doorway to W. Corbelled roof. Flagstones to walls and roof.
Situated to the S of Crowtaing farmhouse, the pigsty is no longer in use. The date of the sty is uncertain, however it does not appear on the 1st Edition 1881 OS map. Erosion of the coastline has reduced further farm buildings to the S and E, possibly including the pigsty yard. Pigs were once common inhabitants on the Orkney farm. Small circular buildings were easier to build, no corners were necessary, thus removing the weak points and making the building more pig-proof. There are a number of circular pigsties remaining in S Wales, and a few in Orkney, including 3 at Myre, South Walls, Hoy (ND 3244 9103).
