Late 18th century. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay, rectangular-plan traditional house, set back from street. Roughly squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings. Small windows.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical with bays grouped to centre. 4-panelled timber door with 2-pane letterbox fanlight to centre at ground, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration to 1st floor.
S (GARDEN) ELEVATION: mirrors above but window to left at ground altered from door, and also with canted dormer windows over outer bays.
4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates, small traditional rooflights. Gablehead stacks with cans, that to E ashlar with thackstanes, that to W broad and harled stack. Ashlar-coped skews with block skewputts.
INTERIOR: original details retained include moulded plasterwork cornices, consoled arch and winding staircase with plain timber balusters and handrail.
ANCILLARY BUILDING: slated, lean-to, rubble ancillary to SE corner of rear garden.
BOUNDARY WALLS: coped rubble boundary walls.
A good early house in Stonehaven's Old Town, retaining its traditional form and the sole surviving house from the original Bogwell Lane which linked the High Street with the present Bogwell Lane.
