History

Shown on 1834 Plan of Brecon. Probably circa 1805. Believed to have once been Yeomanry Offices.

Exterior

Five-window red brick building with hipped slate roof of shallow pitch and deep eaves; end chimneys. Two storeys on high basement. On upper floor, 9-pane hornless sash windows; stone band at sill level. Main floor has 12-pane hornless sash windows with stone sills. Double flight of steps with iron railings up to central doorway. Basement has squarish doorways in line with windows above; similar doorway under stairs.

Reasons for Listing

Part of a fine and rare C19 Barracks complex, retaining its character. Group Value with other listed buildings on the site.
