Late Georgian 3-storey stucco, part scribed, elevations with some channelled facing. Slate roof, wide bracket eaves and modillion cornice to Nos 18,2 and 4; rubble brick and rendered chimney stacks. 2 1 window Pier Street front with broad channelled strips to No 18; wrapping around corner to right. Small-pane sash windows; plain architraves with lintels to No 16, bracketed cills to 2nd floor, panelled pilasters to 2nd floor window of No 18 over similar small pane sash with later ornamental head. Similar windows without architraves to channelled corner. 3 3-window New Street front with channelled end and central pilaster strips; similar window ornament, some blocked windows, small pane glazing to No 18, mostly without glazing bars to Nos 2 and 4. Continuous Victorian shop front wraps around the corner with ramped and lettered fascia (by Neale) and bracketed ends. Splayed central entrance to No 16; entrance to No 198 offset to left, both with mosaic patterned and lettered ‘doormats’; 2 tall and narrow panelled doorcases to New Street front, to left converted into a shop window, to right with Gothic 6-panelled door to No 2. Splayed bay window with sash glazing to right and further shop front beyond.
