History

Late C18 to early C19 limekiln built into the side of a lock platform on the Neath Canal (1791-9).

Exterior

Limekiln, rubble stone, the base of the charging bank on a level with the nearby lock platform on the NW side. One large kiln-eye on the SW side, with segmental arch with dressed stone voussoirs and small rectangular vent to each side. Straight joint to SE of arch with stone rubble walling in front. Overgrown at time of resurvey (September 2003).
