Exterior

Probably a late C18 building though with earlier origins. Brick with slate roof; side wall stacks set to rear of roof slope. 3 storeys, 2 window range. Modern shop front to ground floor, and 16-pane sash windows above, with cambered brick heads. Similar second storey windows are 8-pane sashes. Dentilled eaves band. Short rear wing also has similar sash windows. The rear wing was extended in the early-mid C19, perhaps originally as warehousing. This longer wing now forms a row of separate shops.

Reasons for Listing

The building retains much of its character as a C18 vernacular town house, and is part of a group of similar buildings in the centre of the town.
