History

Built late C17 and possibly replacing a cruck-framed barn. Lean-tos were added behind late C18.

Exterior

Rubble stone barn with corrugated iron roof. The front has a central cart passage doorway with 2 vent strips to L and an added lean-to to R. The gable ends each have 3 stepped vent strips. The R gable end also has a small shuttered opening to L. Behind is corresponding passage doorway and open-fronted stone lean-tos.

Interior

Seven-bay roof with tie beams and lapped collars. Two of the trusses have re-used crucks.

Reasons for Listing

Included as a large and prominent C17 threshing barn with earlier origins, and for group value with Middle Gaer.
