History

The road through Pontyberem to Llannon was part of the Kidwelly Turnpike Trust system re-established in the late C18 under its Renewal Act of 1779.

Exterior

Late-C18 milestone of limestone bearing the lettering: "From / Carmarthen / 9 Miles / To Llannon / 5". The stone is about 500 mm high by about 400 mm wide, and about 150 mm thick. The top is roughly rounded.
