History

Late C19 development of shops with offices above.

Exterior

Three storeys plus attic. Six windows; yellow brick with extensive bathstone dressings includingwindow architraves entablatures and pilasters. Bracketed cornice with parapet broken by dormers with segmental pediments. On top floor, L bay has tripartite window, others 2-light mullion and transom windows with curvilinear pediments. On first floor, L bay has oriel window, others 3-light mullion and transom windows, but 4th bay has 2-light window with curved stone balcony; below this, entrance to chambers flanked by modernised shopfronts articulated by banded stone pilasters supporting bracketed cornice. Similar treatment to L return in Bakers' Row.

Reasons for Listing

Well-designed Victorian commercial block with group value with adjacent buildings.
