History

The old road from Welshpool to the west coast over Bwlch Oerddrws was re-marked by the Turnpike trust in the early C19.

Exterior

The milepost is of cast iron, painted white with a black plinth. It is of triangular section open at the back, and enlarged at the top, with a sloping front gusset. Raised and painted lettering reading, on the left: DINAS / MAWDDWY / 1 and on the right DOLGELLEY / 9.

Reasons for Listing

Included as the only surviving cast iron milepost on this section of the road, and one in a good state of preservation.
