History

One of a series of milestones set up in connection with the establishment of the turnpike road in the 1820s.

Exterior

Slate-stone with simple chamfered top edge set in boundary wall. Inscribed "MILES" to top right comer with below in descending order "RHYD-DDU 4/ NANTLLE STATION 2/ PENYGROES 3".

Included for its special historic interest as a turnpike road milestone, a well-preserved example of a characteristic local type.
