History

This barn could be late C18 or perhaps more likely early C19. It is on the 1839 tithe map.

Exterior

The barn is constructed of roughly squared and coursed local rubble stone with a pantiled roof. There are various later lean-to corrugated iron sheds which obscure parts of the structure. The west side has two slit vents on either side of the central cart doors to the threshing floor. The east side has a projecting gabled central porch with cart doors opposed to the others. The road (north) gable has small square vents for the tallet, south gable not seen.

Interior

Interior not available at resurvey, but the barn would appear to be of five bays and have its original roof structure as the pantiled roof appears unchanged.

Reasons for Listing

Included as a well preserved C18 barn which is now a rarity in the area.
