Erected in 1956 to mark the place where Llywelyn II, the last native prince of Wales, was killed in a skirmish with English soldiers in December 1282.
A tall prehistoric-style menhir on a stepped concrete base, set on a grassy mound. The monument stands within a railed enclosure, with stone steps to the entrance, flanking which are engraved polished stones with English and Welsh engravings: 'Near this spot was killed our Prince Llywelyn'.
Listed for its national historic interest as the memorial to one of the greatest of medieval Welsh Princes.
