Icehouse, possible of late C17 or early C18 date and built to serve Rhiwlas Hall.
Rectangular ice house built into a slope. Of local slatestone rubble construction with shallow pointed stone vault. Deeply-recessed (2m) low central entrance to the downhill end with rough slatestone lintel; boarded door. Irregular ocular opening to the top of the opposite end. The vaulted roof is cemented and is much overgrown.
Stepped-down interior with unrendered walls and beaten earth floor; pointed barrel vault.
Listed for its special interest as a C17 or C18 ice house retaining good original character.
