History

This letter box is the V R standard cylindrical design which was current from 1887-1901. This particular one was probably sited in c1890 when the street was being developed. There is another one nearby in Lansdowne Road, Canton (qv).

Exterior

Cast iron cylindrical pillar box with V R monogram which is also marked in relief lettering Handyside and Co. Derby and London.

Reasons for Listing

Included for its special interest as an increasingly rare late Victorian letter box.
