A probably early C17 house, refronted and given the gable in the C18, modernised and with its features replaced in the C20 and now divided into two properties, Nos. 6 and 8. Once a public house.
No. 8 is two bays of what was originally a 3-unit house parallel with the street.
The original form of this house is best seen in the attic room where the front gable can be clearly seen as an addition. Some timber framing with queen strut roof trusses, principal rafters and purlins. Any surviving features on the ground floor are hidden by later alterations and the staircase is a replacement one.
Included for its special architectural interest as a C17 house and as a part of the important group of historic buildings in the suburb of Overmonnow.
