Built in 1898 contemporary with the doubling of the track as far as the Goods Yard and the construction of the footbridge etc. Both the 'up' and 'down' platforms were extended westwards to cater for the growing number of tourists; they were known as excursion platforms and this building had waiting room, toilets etc.
Single storey red brick structure. 7-bay front with blue brick dressings including plinth, end pilasters and freestone window cills. Corbelled out entablature. Slate roof, corrugated canopy with valence. Paired windows have top opening light and flank double doors near either end.
Disused at the time of inspection (February 1989).
