Founded 1736, renovated 1902. Ashlar built set well back from street. 2 storey
gable end. 4 windows 1st floor framed by side piers over which is mitred the cornice
forming the base of the modern (1902) pediment; panelled string course below cornice.
Projecting ground floor annexe with quadrant corners, Doric portico in antis and
flanking windows. The windows segmental headed with raised surrounds, keys, impost
and cill blocks and containing 3-light round headed lancets (a square window with
similar lights inside portico). 3 ranges of windows along sides. The interior
contains a gallery on 4 sides with curved corners. Turned balusters on double
flight to raised lectern. At north west end a gabled archway to the Sunday School
by William Smith, included with this item.
Nos 2 to 7 (consec) and 9 to 12 (consec) form a group with the Emmanuel Baptist
Church.
