House, now public house. C18 with full height C19 addition to
rear. Red brick with chequered burnt headers, clay tile
mansard roof. Listed portion has rectangular plan of 2 units.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey and attics, gable end stacks, W one
external. Front, N elevation, 3 bays, central doorway with
simple hood on stucco pilasters and shaped brackets. Door C20,
upper glazed panel with shaped head and glazing bars, 3x3
panes, each side a C19 sash window, segment headed, glazing
bars 4x2 panes. First floor, horned C19 sash windows with
glazing bars, outer pair 4x2 panes, central one 3x2 panes. 2
segment headed lead covered dormers, each with a 2-light
casement window with glazing bars, 2x2 panes. Rear, S
elevation, C19 addition in red brick, hipped mansard roof,
ground floor obscured by C20 L-shaped addition, not of special
interest and not included in this listing. First floor, 3 C19
sash windows with glazing bars 4x4 panes, rear stack between
centre and W window. To E, C19 dormer window in steep roof
pitch, sash with glazing bars, 4x3 panes. E end elevation
essentially blank with clear straight joint between C18 house
and C19 addition continued up round C18 mansard gable, red
brickwork of C18 house chequered, as N front, C19 walling
plain. 2 stacks, one per unit with C20 attic casement window
between in C19 build. W end elevation, similar to E with
straight joint. Lower front of C18 house rebuilt, external
stack prominent. Ground floor has C20 door with adjacent
casement window with glazing bars, to rear of stack. Door has
upper glazing with glazing bars, 2x3 panes and 3 lower panels.
On N side window 3x3 panes, on S side, 3 conjoined windows,
each of 2x4 panes. Fire-escape stair rises above to C20 plain
doors on both first floor and attic. C19 attic window with
glazing bars to S of attic door, 4x4 panes, to N of attic door
small C20 stack in red brick.
INTERIOR: has no features of special interest exposed.
