Large house, early C19. East entrance front remodelled in 1950's by Sir Albert
Richardson KCVO, PPRA. Roughcast with low pitched hipped roof of Westmorland
slate. 5 chimney stacks to main building. Two storeys. Entrance porch with
Corinthian columns, panelled door and fanlight. North elevation tented verandah
on delicate wood supports with arched features. West elevation verandah extends
round semi-circular 2 storey bay with 8-pane French windows. Matching 6-pane
casements above. Lower two storey wing to south. Low pitched hipped roof in
centre. Three 12-pane sashes over entrance door between pair of eight-pane
sashes. End wings 12-pane sashes above two 15-pane sashes. Later bow window on
south end. Interior: Good staircase. Sitting room: marble fireplace, carved
wood overmantel. Drawing Room: Adam style fireplace. Dining Room: marble fire-
place, two Ionic columns at east end. All principal rooms have decorative
plaster ceilings and moulded panelled doors.
