Almshouse group. Circa 1912. Possibly by Sir Reginald Blomfield. Red brick with
pilaster quoins and central projecting breasts to pavilion ends. Hipped plain tiled
roofs projecting over pavilion ends. 2 tall stacks on chimmney breasts. 2 outer bays
on each side of ground floor with small casements. Central recess with casement to
right and half-glazed door to left.
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley for thrifty old folk and was laid
out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson, employing leading architects of the day.
