Handed almshouse pair. Circa 1929 by Maurice Webb. Red brick with plain tiled
roof; end ridge stacks with rubbed brick coping to gable ends. 1 storey with
parapet breaking through the eaves on the outer bays. 3 bays, one 3-light sash
in outer bays. Central pier with projecting pilaster, arched recess bays,
approached up a flight of two steps. 3 bay trabeated colonnade with square brick
piers and wooden lintels, dado walls to outer bays connecting Nos. I and 2 with
Nos. 3 to 6 to north east. Chestnut Crescent was added to the original, octagonal
plan of Whiteley Village with the buildings designed in similar style.
