II

One of a pair of identical road bridges. Early C19. English bond brick with ashlar coping. Downriver side: central basket arch with brick voussoirs and retaining walls at either side which curve forward. Ashlar coping to the top of the parapet, flush with the walling and having fluted tool marks to the edges. The western end of the parapet has been largely rebuilt with a cement parapet, although following the outline of the earlier work. Upriver side: similar save that the parapet has not been rebuilt.

A pair with the Western bridge over the River Deben (q.v).
