GV II

Walls and gate piers with gates. C18 and later. Walls of sarsen,
with limestone piers and iron gates, forming rectangular enclosure
paved with sarsen setts immediately east of former stables, now
museum (q.v). Wall curves round to east and adjoins dovecote
(q.v.). North gates to yard rusticated, with cornice and urn
finials. Second pair of gate piers on east side of yard, with
concrete cornice and ball finials in acanthus cups. Wrought iron
gates of c1982 with initials of Nevill-Glidden in overthrow. Dog
rails with arrow terminals. Wall to dovecote approximately 1.2m
high with limestone weathered copings.
