Built in 1813 in a Georgian Gothic Revival style to replace the the medieval parish church which was demolished in 1814 and which stood some 800 metres Northwest. The Church of St Peter was declared redundant on 18 April 1974 and is now in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
