A Grade II Listed Building in Endon and Stanley, Staffordshire

No. 35 footbridge, Caldon canal, Endon (west face)

Uploader's Comments

1842 pedestrian bridge with cast iron span and stone abutments spanning the main Caldon canal at Hazelhurst junction, Endon. Numbered 35. The bridge sits just to the west of the Lock Keeper's Cottage and crosses the main canal onto a central 'island' which separates the main Caldon canal from the Leek branch of the canal which at this point runs to the south. The cast iron span of the bridge has an attractive arched balustrade screen with a fish scale design. A central dating plate is sited in the centre of the span.
