Abandoned lock and wharfage area close to the Lock Keeper's Cottage in Eyton. Now called Hurley Brook, this used to be part of the Shrewsbury canal. Only small sections and bridges are now extant. About a mile east of this abandoned lock, Wappenshall Wharf, basin and warehouse buildings (one designed by Thomas Telford) are being restored by the Shrewsbury & Newport Canals Trust. Another interesting feature on the old canal route is to be found a couple of miles north-west of here - the iron aquaduct designed by Telford at Longden-on-Tern. July 2025.
