Pair of cottages ornés. Date c1879. Architect probably David Brandon. Materials flint ashlar. Close studded timber frame with stucco plain tiled roof, brick central stack. Plan form symmetrical with central cross wing and stack. The plan sets back to provide an entrance hall below a roof outshut. The ashlar of the flintwork is stepped to form a buttress below the central cross wing while the roofs have twin flat roofed leaded dormers and the gables small bracketed oriel windows with simple casements. The central chimney stack is vertically ribbed with canted bricks. Gables are finished in terracotta foliate finials, that of the cross wing being hipped.
History: built by John and Margaret Bond Cabbell following additions to Cromer Hall. The lodge and cottages were named after John Bond Cabbell's London home, 1 Chesterfield Gardens.
