Country house. Early C18, extended mid-C19 with later additions and
alterations. Red brick with chamfered stone angle quoins; hipped slate
roof. 2 storeys and attic with moulded stone floor band and eaves
cornice. 2:1:2 bays, central bay forming slight projection with elegant
curved pediment; 4-paned sashes with gauged heads and keystones, 2
hip-roofed dormers high up in roof slope. Central entrance, 6-panel
door with rectangular overlight in plain pilastered doorcase with open
segmental hood supported on carved consoles. Prominent axial ridge
stack to centre. Apparently mid-C19 addition set back to right has
two 4-paned sashes on ground floor and one in centre to first floor;
prominent dormer with segmental pediment in roof slope; modillion eaves
cornice. Brick additions to rear C19 and 1922 (datestone). Interior:
inspection not possible at time of resurvey (January 1986) but likely
to be of interest. B.O.E. p.240.
