9/125 The Cherries

GV II

Pair of cottages, now one dwelling, C17/C18, enlarged C19. Coursed ironstone
rubble and whitewashed brick, thatch roof, brick stacks. Cottage to left, 2
storeys, 2 bays, has entrance to right of centre with wood lintel and plank
door. 3-light windows on either side have wood lintels and old iron casements.
Similar 2-light windows on first floor. Cottage to right was probably originally
an outbuilding converted to dwelling in C19 with upper floor added in brick. 2
storeys, one bay. Entrance in left bay has wood lintel and C20 half-glazed door.
3-light casement window with wood lintel to right. Similar window on first
floor. Interior not inspected, but cottage to left said to have original winder
stair, chamfered beams and open fireplace.
