1874. Architect possibly Wallis, agent to the Duke of Devonshire. This
square is very late in date, but is good for its period and is chiefly
noticeable for remaining unspoiled by alterations. Mildly Italianate in
character. 4 storeys and basement with area. 2 3-light windows and 1
narrow window in tile centre to each house. Cemented fronts. Continuous
cornice above ground floor supported by the pilasters of the doorways and
pilasters between the windows or the lights of the windows. Similar
cornice over 1st floor windows, but separate in each house. Ditto
2nd floor with curved or triangular pediments in the centre of it. 3rd
floor windows in architrave surrounds, the centre 1 round-headed. Each
house has a curved bay window of 3 lights from basement to 1st floor with
cornice and balustraded parapet over it.
