21/47 The Rectory


GV II

House. c1820. Probably By H.H. Seward for the Church Commissioners. Ashlar
with Lakeland slate roof. Garden side, 2 storeys and basement. 3 bays.
Basement has one slatted window and one with small panes and iron glazing bars.
Ground floor has 2 tripartite sashes. 1st floor has 3 9-pane sashes. l-bay
lower extension on right has 9-pane sashes on both floors. Entrance side 2
storeys, 3 bays, with central flat-topped stone porch and door of 6 flush panels.
12-pane sashes left and right, 9-pane above. All the openings have chamfered
reveals. To left of entrance front a one-bay extension with single-storey lean-
to in front. Concave eaves soffit. Gabled roof with ridged coping and 2 stone
gable stacks plus one similar on extension.

Interior has 6-panelled doors and early C19 staircase.
