Wall and gatepier. Probably late C17. Coursed squared marlstone and limestone
ashlar. Wall is approximately 2 metres high with a 3-course triangular coping,
and extends approximately 40 metres south-west from the western gatepier to The
Orchard to a subsidiary gateway. Square ashlar pier has a chamfered piinth and
moulded cornice plus a large ball finial. See "South House plus attached wall
and 3 gatepiers" for matching eastern gatepier and wall. The walls and gatepiers
belonged to the large C16/C17 mansion of the Cobb family, demolished 1815.
