House, now hotel and country club, c1805; gault brick, hipped roof of black
glazed pantiles. L-shaped. Principal facade to west of 7 bays and 2 storeys
in two builds: older 3 bays to right with modillions to eaves, 4 bays slightly
later to left, set back a little, recessed sashes with glazing bars and flat
arches, dummy sashes to bay 1 and ground floor bay 7; bay 6 with segmental
fronted portico having flat roof and 2 pairs of fluted columns with acanthus
leaf necking, moulded reeded doorway with patera, wide double leaved door.
South facade of 5 bays 2 storeys; hipped roof of black glazed pantiles,
sashes with glazing bars, flat arches and fretwork canopies. Lower single
storey 4 bay range to right under slate hipped roof, sashes with glazing
bars. Facade to north with addition to left of no special interest.
Interior: curved open string staircase with cast iron balusters and wreathed
mahogany hand rail; internal semi-circular headed stair window with
intersecting glazing bars; rooms to south with varied moulded ceiling
surrounds and plaster friezes.
