I lived at this lovely old house from 1979 to 1983. The pond (or mere as described in Norfolk) was created when it was dug out to provide the clay for the wattle and daub used to create the house walls together with the structural timbers and ash? poles. We understand the brick frontage was built later in the 1820’s. During some remedial work at the rear above a doorway, I discovered a “witch’s bottle” … used to guard against evil spirits.
