GV II

Country house. C18 and later. Stuccoed and painted brick. Black-glazed
pantile roof, hipped at rear. Two storeys and attics, U-shaped plan with
later infill at rear. Facade of seven bays: sashes with glazing bars and
architraves. Central doorway with Tuscan pilasters supporting open pediment
on brackets. 2-leaf glazed door with raised and fielded lower panels, reeded
and fluted architrave, semicircular fanlight with decorative glazing bars.
Three attic dormers with cambered roofs: sashes with glazing bars. Parapeted
gables with internal gault brick chimney stacks. Lower 2-storey 3-bay ranges
to rear, hipped at north-west corner. Interior: has C18 staircase with two
turned balusters per tread and carved tread ends.
