GV II


Former manse. Late C18 with later additions. Brick with pantile
roof, black glazed to front pitch. 2-storey lean-to and pair of
stacks to rear of main block. Catslide roof to lean-to. 2 storeys.
Symmetrical facade of 3 bays of sash windows with glazing bars
beneath skewback arches. Part-glazed panelled front door with eared
doorcase. Later porch with jalousie vented sides and gabled roof of
corrugated iron. Dentil cornice with dentils formed from paired
header bricks. Interior: Original staircase of stick balusters, open
string, shaped tread ends and mahogany handrail. Raised and fielded
panelled doors throughout. Fine principal chimneypiece with eared
surround and moulded mantel shelf. Group value with Oulton
Congregationalist Chapel.
