GV II

Farmhouse. Early C17 and later; refronted in C19. Red brick with south
facade of knapped and galleted flint with brick dressings. Steeply-pitched
pantile roof. Two storeys and attic. South facade of five bays: 3 and
4-light windows with wooden hollow-chamfer mullions and transoms, casements
added in C20. Windows set in chamfered brick reveals. Bays 2 and 4 slightly
advanced with steep stepped gables, the left-hand bay has a 4-centred arched
doorway with C20 glazed door. Evidence in walling of altered openings.
Crowstepped east and west gables with moulded brick eaves corbels. Internal
gable stacks with twin diagonally-set square shafts; axial stack off-centre
to east. Gable brickwork earlier, with diaper-patterning: east gable has
blocked attic openings. West gable openings much altered and blocked, stepped
parapet carried down over catslide lean-to at north-west corner. C19 segmental
casements in lean-to. Small hipped stair projection to north-east with
lower lean-to on west side. Attached boundary wall to road: red brick on
plinth, with saddleback coping; square piers with capping. At the east
end a doorway to garden with crow-stepped gable over a 4-centred archway.
