Farmhouse. Early C19. Red brick with red and grey sandstone ashlar
dressings; hipped C20 machine tile roof. Square plan.2 storeys. Chamfered
stone plinth and stone frieze; 2 brick ridge stacks. West front:
3 bays; glazing bar sashes with stone lintels; pair of central doors,
each with 3 raised and fielded panels (top panels glazed), rectangular
overlight with lozenge-pattern glazing bars, and stone doorcase with
panelled pilasters and triangular pediment. 3-bay left-hand return front,
and 4-bay right-hand return front with blind windows in second bay from
right. Rear: 3 bays with altered first-floor fenestration; central
one-storey canted hipped-roofed porch with blind windows in each face
and 3 steps up to central door with 6 raised and fielded panels (top 4
glazed), and doorcase consisting of pilasters with fluted capitals
supporting frieze and triangular pediment. Interior not inspected
but likely to be of interest. This house stands near to Pitchford
Hall (qv).
