Entrance lodge, attached wall, gate pier and gate. Lodge: early C19
with minor later alterations. Uncoursed limestone rubble; shallow
pyramidal slate roof has central red brick stack with 4 attached and
rebated shafts and dentilled capping. Square plan. 2 storeys. 2
windows. C19 multi-paned casements, those to ground floor mullioned
and transomed with segmental heads, to left and right of central plain
pilastered pedimented timber porch over contemporary boarded door. Left
wall has identical fenestration pattern, except ground-floor windows and
upper right are blind. Right wall has 2 windows on each floor flanking
blind or infilled segmental-headed doorway. Attached wall: possibly a
little later. Roughly coursed limestone rubble with ashlar coping ramped
up to gate pier: concrete blocks replacing regularly coursed limestone
rubble but retaining ashlar capping, surmounted by ball finial. C19
painted wrought-iron gate. Q.v. under No. 4, Walcot Avenue.
