Cottage and smithy, latter now disused. Probably late C17 with later
additions and alterations. Roughcast red brick and probably timber frame;
slate roof. 2-cell central-chimney plan with flush gable to right.
One storey and gable-lit attic. Four-panel door (top panels now glazed)
under gabled hood to far left with C19 segmental-headed casement immediately
to right. Central red brick ridge stack. Low gabled range below flush
gable has horses' entrance to smithy to right. Catslide outshut to rear
on right. Interior. Inspection of cottage not possible at time of
resurvey (March 1987) but smithy (to right end of building) has forge,
anvil, hand-operated bellows and a complete set of blacksmith's tools.
Smithy ceased working c.1970.
