House and cottage. Late C16-early C17, extensively altered late C20. Roughcast over
rubble, asbestos slate roofs, coped verge left gable end, brick stack right gable end
and to left of cross passage (Ivy Cottage) and abutting right gable end of cottage.
Plan: Ivy Cottage 3-cell and cross passage with unheated inner room, now 2-cell and
cross passage with cottage adjoining 2-cell. Two, and one and a half storeys, 2:4 bays;
all C20 metal casements, leaded in Ivy Cottage with gabled dormers, large 4-light to
right of entrance with small light between third and fourth bays right, entrance
to Ivy Cottage between first and second bays right, C20 studded plank door, gabled porch,
and to cottage between first and second bays left. There is said to be a 2-light
chamfered mullioned window at the rear of Ivy Cottage. Interiors:cottage left with stud
and plank partition. Interior of Ivy Cottage not seen, said to contain chamfered beams
with step and runout stops, diamond panel of plasterwork in upper storey and 3 pairs of
jointed cruck trusses. An early photograph said to be in possession of the owner shows
both chimneys with shallow projections one to left of entrance and the other on right
return gable end where there is now a bread oven. The reason for these projections is
