Large house. Early C19, extended late C19.
MATERIALS: painted stucco, hipped slate roofs.
PLAN: irregular plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Several chimneys with corniced heads and
Doulton pots. Sash windows with glazing bars.
Entrance front, south-west, on right 3-bay section with
moulded cornice and balustraded parapet. First floor windows
are 2 round and one oval with moulded architraves and garlands
resting on them. 2 other windows are sashes in moulded
architraves. Large doorcase, at right, with Corninthian
half-columns and dentil cornice. Later 2-bay extension set
back at left with large oriel window on first floor. To left
and set further back 3-bay extension.
Road front, south-east, first floor band, moulded cornice and
balustraded parapet. 4-bays, sash windows in moulded
architraves. Second window from right on each floor has
paterae frieze and moulded cornice on scrolled console
brackets, that on first floor has pediment over.
INTERIOR: wide, open well stair in entrance hall has turned
balusters and closed string with floral carving and moulded
tread ends. Sitting room is panelled, skirting enriched with
egg-and-dart ornament, dado, and dentilled eaves cornice.
Marble chimneypiece with wooden shouldered architrave surround
enriched with egg-and-dart ornament. Wooden frieze with floral
carving and moulded wooden cornice.
