121/0/10042 TYNTESFIELD PARK
29-APR-02 Gothic Seat about 100 metres south of
Tyntesfield House

GV II
Garden seat. Circa 1865; possibly by John Norton. Stone. Back of seat comprises a frieze of pierced panels with cusped ogee tracery, the centre raised and with intersecting panel tracery. Large piers at corners with blind tracery and surmounted by vases [three vases have fallen]. The seat is made of timber planks.
A good example of a Victorian garden ornament in a grade II* garden and one of a series of Gothic seats in the garden at Tyntesfield.
