Maltings and oasthouse. c.1820. Coursed squared limestone rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings, Collyweston slate roofs, raised stone coped gables. 4 storeys, 9 x 9 bays, the north front arranged 1:2:3:2:1, the inner paired bays being separately gabled. To each floor are 2 light louvred openings with chamfered and mulliond ashlar surrounds. In the centre first floor is a planked doorway. To the left hand end is a 2 bay, 2 storey oasthouse with pyramidal roof containing the kiln. On the side front is a painted inscription over a door "John Perkins, Licensed Maltster". In White's 1856 Directory, he is recorded as a maltster in Market Deeping. The maltings was located opposite to the River Welland which was navigable until c.1860. Source: N. R. Wright.
