Description

TF 09 NE HOLTON LE MOOR CHURCH LANE
(north side)

5/11 Broughton
Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse; C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Colour washed
ironstone and brick coped tumbled gables, pantile roof with
exposed rafters, one gable and a single large axial stack. 3
units plan. Single storey with attics having off centre C19 door
with segmental head flanked by single C19 casements, on left with
2 lights, on right with 3 lights, both with timber lintels.
Further left is a C20 window with cambered brick arch. In the
roof are 2 steeply pitched dormers with glazing bar sashes and
rendered cheeks and bargeboard. To right is a later brick
extension. There is evidence in the facade that the original
house may have been of only one unit. The interior retains its
original plan with large single stack and adjacant staircase and
has one chamfer stopped beam. Although the rafters have been
renewed the C17 staggered butt purlins remain intact.
